Answers and energy for our dreams come to us as steadily as the surf. We can miss them if we get lost in old thoughts or rush forward, but they keep coming. Self awareness helps us notice the waves of our potential. It makes all the difference so we don’t walk along the beaches of our dreams making footprints in the sands of time while the surf sings our song.
Though I wrote a book and continue to write a blog to support survivors of childhood sexual abuse, I dreamed of doing more. That desire had no particular form or goal. It was something that swam around with other intentions.
And I dismissed the first wave that brought insight. A friend and survivor mentioned a hand-bound guide book I’d written years ago; I was surprised she remembered and the conversation moved forward like water washing over the sand. The second wave caught my attention though I felt resistance to getting wet with the idea. Out of nowhere, another friend suggested I write a healing guide, weaving it from the chapters of Spirit Unbroken: Abby’s Story. That wave came and went but, like taking a snapshot, I wrote it down as a someday possibility. A week later, another wave washed into my days. A reader suggested it would be “really helpful” if I wrote another book that described the healing journey for survivors.
Now, as I move through my days, I’m consciously watching the waves of possibilities. I’m wondering how many waves tickled my toes before I noticed the first one that showed me an answer to my desire.
All of us are walking the beaches of our personal dreams. We have an ocean of energy sending us waves of possibilities for everything we desire. We just need to be aware… letting our spirit guide us.
