Our spirit is a dimension of insights that persistently talks to us in a language of imagery. Tucked into our everyday experiences, its whispered wisdom can be found when we notice out-of-the-ordinary events, no matter how small and quiet. I’m convinced my spirit loves talking to me through my dreams.
All dreams are not the same. Some scare, some soothe. Others fade before we wake up. When my spirit is talking to me in the language of dreams, comfortable people and common circumstances carry me into upside-down experiences that wake me up wondering. A bicycle ride through my childhood neighborhood might find me pedaling along the bottom of the ocean. These dreams always intrigue. They invite me to wonder. Leaving me with strong images or feelings, they become a magnet for musing.
Spirit dreams always encourage personal growth. Sometimes they open doors to understanding the past. Other times, they let me try on the future like a new pair of shoes so I can walk in new realities to see how they fit. These dreams have been Watson for Sherlock Holmes as they helped me unravel mysteries in my life.
I especially appreciate the nighttime adventures that talk to me about the changes or opportunities I might have missed. In the past, they have pointed out shifts or achievements that were getting buried in busy days. I’ve had them point out connections my mind didn’t catch.
Recognizing the unique quality and feel of our own spirit dreams, empowers us. Then we can write about them, ‘feel’ about them, and let their insights bubble in our thoughts until we understand the insightful messages they bring while we sleep.
